Description

The little country of Judah was caught between two great nations who wished to conquer the world.
Egypt’s army was coming up from the south, conquering everything in its path including Judah. Babylon’s troops were moving in from the east. Sooner or later the two forces would meet.
They met at the battle of Carchemish, and Egypt was so completely defeated that it never again became a world
power.
Almost before the noise of that battle was over, Babylon stormed Judah’s capital  and Jerusalem surrendered.
But to make sure that Judah would not attempt a revolt, the Babylonians took a group of Judah’s finest young
noblemen as hostages.

In this group was a young man named Daniel.

What happened to him in Babylon is told in the book of the Bible that bears his name.
