Discussions with various people from a cross section of Indian Christian Community from various language groups and regions have highlighted two major lacunae in the churches:
Over the years the Christian leadership has undergone many changes according to the prevalent philosophy of the times or by the influence of the pre-Christian cultural practices of the places. But Christian and Church leadership has its roots in the teachings of the Lord Jesus and further revelation given to the Apostles and Prophets by the Holy Spirit. It is essential to restore Biblical leadership in order to fulfil the purpose for which we have been called and sent out to all the corners of the world.
In spite of the local leaderships being raised in the new mission fields, cross-cultural communication still remains one of the major challenges of reaching India with Christ. Wrong notions about cultures can only cause confusion in the mind of the missionary as well as the new believers. Apostle Paul has shown the way for us in this respect and today we need to develop the needed skills and work under the control of the Holy Spirit.
Keeping these fundamental needs of the church today GLS is not only publishing books on these subjects, but also facilitating training programmes for this purpose.
