WEEKEND THOUGHTS

When ye come together, do this in remembrance of me. Let us remember Him in His suffering and glory.

It pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief. God the Father handed over him unto death. The LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. — Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

Being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth:

We see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine will, but the will of him that sent me. The cup which my father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

The Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.  My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, — Mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Have a blessed Lord ‘s day with every blessing from above.

WEEKEND THOUGHTS

Few words of consolation. Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither is his ear heavy, that it cannot hear.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul. — While I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help, leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. Be not thou far from me, O LORD, O my strength, haste thee to help me. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.  Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us. The Lord is good and stronghold in the day of thy trouble. Call unto me in the day of thy trouble. I shall deliver thee and thou shalt glorify me.

This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. Said I not unto thee, that if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? For he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.

Every blessing for the weekend.

WEEKEND THOUGHTS

The Lord’s day, the day of breaking of bread, the first day of the week, the day of resurrection, the day of  our remembrance of the Lord, fellowship with the Lord and with one another.

The Lord Jesus Christ, before His ascension sanctioned His people with two ordinances. They are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The first instituted in the wilderness, linking us to newness of life on earth and the second, instituted in the upper room, connecting us with Christ in glory. The first takes us backward to see what the Lord has done for us and the second takes to the Person of Christ in His suffering and in glory and His coming.

These ordinances are given to the church, but certainly not to any organisation. It was practiced by the early church, recorded in Acts of the Apostles and it is written in the epistle. Apostle Paul, writing to the Church at Corinth 1Cori.11:2 says, keep the ordinances. Apostle was not present when the Lord instituted the Lord’s Supper. But, we have him, receiving the account and the significance of the Lord’s Supper directly from the Lord. So he writes in the same chapter from verse:23 onwards….For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you……. In this portion we have three great truths. 1. What the Lord did? 2. What we do? 3. It’s duration is until the Lord come.

Meeting in the Saviour’s Name,

Breaking bread by His command,

To the world we thus proclaim,

On what ground we hope to stand,

When the Lord shall come with clouds,

Joined by heaven’s exulting crowds.

From the Cross our hope we draw.

‘Tis the sinner’s sure resource;

Jesus magnified the law, Jesus bore its awful curse; what a joyful truth is this!

O how full of hope it is! Jesus died, and then arose; Yes, He rose, He lives to reign;

He will vanquish all His foes.

When to earth He comes again;

His the triumph and the crown,

His glory and renown. Sing we, then, of Him who died,

Sing of Him who rose again;

By His blood we’re justified, and with Him we hope to reign:

Yes, we look to see our Lord, and to share His bright reward.

Have a blessed Lord ’s Day with every blessing.
