Lord Jesus Christ has called all Christians to share the gospel with the fellow citizens so that their lives may be transformed. While some Christians are called to be Evangelists and pioneer missionaries, all Christians are expected to further the cause of the gospel. However, each one has to discharge his or her calling.
Mordeccai pressed upon Esther the necessity of personal involvement. “If you keep silent” – if you don’t get deeply involved- God will use other means to fulfil His plan [Esther 4:14]. The Lord has some personal and special contribution you can make to the spread of the gospel and nobody else can make it. Be a part of GLS mission focus – the work of the Lord in India.
The Lord is asking us to present ourselves as a ‘living sacrifice’. Not limited involvement, but a pouring out of life in intercession and as may be necessary in contributing our wealth as God has prospered ‘each one’ to the missionary cause. GLS has many initiatives to provide resources to support for nationwide evangelism.
Won’t you be part of this?
Where you cannot go, the printed materials can and does reach. GLS gives you an opportunity to reach out to our fellow countrymen with books, booklets and tracts. This is your opportunity to fulfil your responsibility in obeying the Great Commission and serving your country.
“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” ― John Bunyan
“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.”
― Maya Angelou
“No one has ever become poor by giving.” ― Anne Frank
“It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” ― Mother Teresa
India is a land of diverse cultures with a large variety of socio-economic groupings and educational and intellectual levels. So it is a challenge to reach all people with one set of tracts or booklets. Add to that the opposition to public preaching of the Gospel and also mass distribution of literature in public places. So reaching all strata of the society has become a great challenge to the evangelists in the field. Keeping this in view, literature is being produced at various levels, especially to assist personal work.

In these days of moral degradation where families and even the very family concept has been under attack, it is essential to help strengthen the whole families, as a whole and individually, to grow spiritually. It calls for different approaches as one grows up, mentally as well as spiritually. The taste of reading also changes according to the age of the reader. From the picture books that a pre-school child loves to the serious issues of life and schools of philosophical thought that young adults and older people pursue, people change their preferences of subject matter as well as literary styles. Though it has often been said that book reading habit is decreasing among children, this contention is against the research findings. The responsibility of developing reading habit rests with the parents. The children have to be provided with books from an early age. In the olden days the grandmas were supposed to be the story tellers. But with the development of urban nuclear families, the parents have to take on that role as well. Children to whom the parents read stories from an early age, tend to develop reading habit. While GLS has produced books in some of these areas, it is our endeavour to bring out books for all age groups.

Over the years the Christian leadership has undergone many changes according to the prevalent philosophy of the times or by the influence of the pre-Christian cultural practices of the places. But Christian and Church leadership has its roots in the teachings of the Lord Jesus and further revelation given to the Apostles and Prophets by the Holy Spirit. It is essential to restore Biblical leadership in order to fulfil the purpose for which we have been called and sent out to all the corners of the world.
In spite of the local leaderships being raised in the new mission fields, cross-cultural communication still remains one of the major challenges of reaching India with Christ. Wrong notions about cultures can only cause confusion in the mind of the missionary as well as the new believers. Apostle Paul has shown the way for us in this respect and today we need to develop the needed skills and work under the control of the Holy Spirit.
Keeping these fundamental needs of the church today GLS is not only publishing books on these subjects, but also facilitating training programmes for this purpose.
Christians are not isolated islands in the society. As salt and light of the world, Christians have to take active interest in nation-building. Our nation is riddled with social, economic, ethical and moral issues.
It is not enough to raise our voices when Christians are affected. The problems of our fellow humans have to become our problems. In a special way we have the responsibility to keep the moral fibre of the society intact as we have the revelation of God’s laws given to us. So we need to publicise God’s perspective of the issues facing the nation. This should reach the opinion leaders in our society at various levels so that they will in turn be able to influence the law makers of the country. This can be achieved only through the efforts of the believers in reaching out to the opinion makers in one’s own locality and reach. It is the endeavour of GLS to produce books on various issues facing the nation to enable the believers to fulfil this responsibility.
